Well, we’re starting to think we need to buy flood insurance….. not that anyone is forecasting a flood this Spring. But let’s face it, we all sleep better when we know that we won’t completely lose our investment if we get washed down the river.
Depending on how the melt comes and how much rain we get, anything can happen, and often does. Last year, the river rose well after the melt and that was all about the torrential rains we were getting. I remember waking up in the night to see where the rain was going to fall next, hoping the gathering clouds wouldn’t drop more inches of water on our watershed and raise the river another foot. Luckily most of it went north….. I’m grateful for miracles, but don’t like to push my luck. Right?
We are rolling out a new menu this week. We think you’re going to find some new favorites and as a side benefit, it will add a little new life to February. Make sure you give us some feedback (on the counter we have forms) as we’ll be tweaking and cajoling it all into place over the next few weeks.
Here’s what else is going on this week. Remember- February is the longest month of the year (doesn’t it seem like it?) and we’re halfway through!!
Tonight, Tuesday, Emily Lynch and Tom Triplett, our artists this month, will be around for a visit from 5-8 PM. Stop in and meet your neighbors as well as hear about their art.
On Thursday night, our house band is back again, this time with a new, new name. Let’s hear Al try to explain:
Strictly Medicinal, a variation of the Still Standing Band,
Reflecting the ever changing nature of Still Standing, the group (sans Shari for this month) will be playing under the name of Strictly Medicinal. Al, Marcus, Danny and Mike will rely on their good looks as well as the usual eclectic song mix to compensate for Shari's absence. Expect some Gordon Lightfoot and Pete Seeger tunes, some country and pop, maybe a sing along or two with some obligatory tunes about death, murder and mayhem. There will be no bad side affects with this show and expect a return with Ms Zimmermann next month. - Al
On Friday, we have Erik Brandt : http://urbanhillbillyquartet.com Erik’s been here many times and he is always a pleasure. On Saturday night it’s The Tex Pistols, always good for blowing the roof off on a Winter Saturday night! http://www.texpistolsband.com/bio.html
