This is it. This is June in Minnesota, the most beautiful place on earth. High of 75, not a cloud in the sky, green everywhere. The kind of green you feel good standing on with bare feet, that you feel the urge to bathe your body in so as to soak up enough to last through next winter. It’s all so alive, awake, joyful! That muggy wave of heat we had last week is best ignored… this is the bomb.
Graduation happened last Sunday, here in Delano. Although only a small percentage of the population attended, there was a hush as the whole town seemed to take notice of this sacred ceremony of releasing our collective children into the world. We are lucky enough to have a few of these young people working at Three Crows and I’m glad of the connection we have through them to the community work of raising the next generation.
I’m aware of the joy of joining the birds in having a project. Whether cleaning the house, planting a garden, or adding a roof to keep the garage from leaking, this is the time of year for action. It is however tempting to overdo it. Haven’t we all done our version of planting too much garden and being outdone by weeds in July? This is fair warning, I hope I take it.
This week will be fun, fun, fun! Bob Bingham is coming down from his hideaway up north to play us music and release his brand new CD! He will be joined by Curtis Blake, as Gordy was overcome by other people’s Spring projects and can’t get away. We will miss him and Curtis will bring a new dimension to the evening that is sure to be enjoyable.
Joe and Vicki Price are coming through on Friday with a stop to play that remarkable, foot stomping, makes you smile just to hear it, music of theirs.
And on Saturday night, it’s Opera Night at Three Crows and we have a few more seats! Call to reserve 763-972-3399. The menu is posted on the event page and as a reminder it starts at 6:30 PM. The program has not been revealed to me but I have heard the name Mozart bandied about. We’re in for a treat! If you are wondering about what all the fuss is about, click on the "Opera Night" link above which will bring you to the "about us" page and look for the photo of Carl flipping a frying pan then click on the arrow to see a clip that Mitch Kezar and Evan Lemmerman put together.
